Description

‘Karibu’

Karibu is the Zwahili word for Welcome. Often used in Africa to welcome guests and shoppers. The Donkey Cart is a well known  means of transport in Africa as well as in the Karoo and Namaqua Land which is on the West Coast of Africa. The Donkey Cart people is referred to as ‘Karrietjie Mense’ in Afrikaans. They load everything, mostly everything they own, on the cart and travel from farm to farm where the farmer then employ them to shear his flock of sheep for an income. They are also becoming extinct in the last couple of years.
