Description
‘Fisherman’s Cottage’
On the west coast of the Cape, as well as on the Cape south coast, specially in a place called ‘Kassiesbaai’, which you may call a ‘suburb’ of the little town named Arniston, these houses are a jewel and mostly belong to the Coloured People of SA. Some date back as much as 100-years plus. Beautiful white washed houses with grass roofs. The people living here making a living as fisherman: men of the sea. They have their boats (or as they refer to it, their ‘bakkies’) close to their house. In winter they make log fires to keep them warm and to cook their catch of the day.
Oil on canvas, framed 730x840mm
